This lung cancer was a big shock to me, I didn't think it could happen to me - Florence
I'm Florence, a 57-year-old primary school teacher with three young adult children. I live in the countryside near the Loire River where I enjoy sports, hiking, Pilates, and artistic gymnastics. I'm even a volunteer gymnastics judge!
I was diagnosed in 2024 with Stage IV EGFR+ lung cancer after experiencing a chest infection that kept coming back. As a never-smoker, the diagnosis was a complete shock. My bonds with my family and friends are stronger than ever since diagnosis, and I'm learning to savor every little joy along the way.
I've met some wonderful people through “My Lung Cancer Network”. The daily exchanges with other patients are invaluable - we understand each other, comfort each other, and with great kindness, give each other hope. These connections have become a vital part of my journey.
I benefit from sophrology sessions as part of my support care and do daily breathing exercises. I go for walks in nature every day, either alone or with loved ones.
I also participate in webinars and discussions with expert patients. My hobbies include sophrology, reading, painting, and sports all of which help me find calm alongside my medical treatment.
